The Cornwall Construction Executive Group is a body which is being established to provide joined-up strategic leadership for Cornwall, responding to nationally and locally significant issues. It will be responsible for a coordinated response focused upon the best interests of the construction sector in Cornwall for all, Clients and businesses, in delivering growth for the county

About Building Cornwall Menu

The group has been established further to the sector-support undertaken by the Local Enterprise Partnership through the Construction Strategy Steering Group and the consistent feedback from industry at the Construction Summit, the Housing & Construction Conference, booth held in 2018, and the Cornwall Council Overview and Scrutiny Committee Inquiry into the Capacity to Deliver Homes and Workspace. The outcomes from these industry and county-wide initiatives has directly informed, the role and remit of this new Executive Group.

Purpose & Functions

To provide joined up strategic leadership for Cornwall, responding to nationally and locally significant issues relating to construction and development, and directing a coordinated response focused upon the best interests of Cornwall.
To ensure the construction sector in Cornwall has the capacity to deliver homes, workspace and infrastructure of Cornwall whilst embedding the key principles of high quality, design, sustainability and social value.
To embed a culture of innovation and adoption of new technologies and approaches, through both innovation in digital transformation and sustainability.

• To be a collective voice for Cornwall in lobbying and influencing national policy and investment for the benefit of Cornwall.
• To have industry-wide visibility with the construction sector, through ongoing engagement with the sector through strategic events and joint work on policy and strategy initiatives.
• To build reputation and confidence in Cornwall’s construction sector.
• To oversee the development and delivery of the response to the Overview and Scrutiny recommendations, coordinating across specialisms.
• Securing investment where relevant to implement responses to the required activities.
• Link to Local Industrial Strategy

The emerging Local Industrial Strategy, together with all relevant strategies at national and local level, will be integrated into the local leadership being undertaken by this group.
